What is an ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR?

So.... What is an Endocrine System and what are Endocrine Disruptors?
ENDOCRINE: The adjective, endocrine, describes the glands in your body that secrete hormones into your blood. The hormones released by your endocrine glands have an effect on almost every function of your body.
Endocrine can refer to the glands in your body, called endocrine glands; and it also can describe the larger system that includes your glands and your hormones, called the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for lots of functions, including regulating growth, metabolism, and even your mood. So the next time you’re in a really good mood, thank your endocrine secretions.
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR: An endocrine disruptor is a natural or synthetic chemical that mimics or blocks the action of a natural hormone , which may disrupt the body's endocrine system.
Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with endocrine (or hormone) systems at certain doses. These disruptions can cause cancerous tumors, birth defects, and other developmental disorders. Any system in the body controlled by hormones can be derailed by hormone disruptors.
These disruptive chemicals may interfere with the body's endocrine system and produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immunological effects in both humans and wildlife.
There is no end to the tricks that endocrine disruptors can play on our bodies: increasing production of certain hormones, decreasing production of others, imitating hormones, turning one hormone into another, interfering with hormone signaling, telling cells to die prematurely, competing with essential nutrients, binding to essential hormones, and accumulating in organs that produce hormones.
